Petco or Petsmart for fish and tanks?

Question by : Petco or Petsmart for fish and tanks?
Which has the best deals for 20 gallon and up fish tank kits? I mean the full kit for a full aquarium. Also, which keeps better care of their fish, and which store has a better selection of tropical fish? Thank you!!!

Answer by schitikoff
Go to each and check the prices. You will find a good deal only if you have fully discovered the information in both stores.
They both have full kit aquarium and tropical fish. You have to see it by your own eyes to find out what YOU want but not we.

Aquarium fish tanks

Keeping fishes is fun and enjoyable hobby. But there are some basic things that you will need to know before beginning your new hobby. It is always healthier to get an aquarium ready before buying fishes as the fishes need to have a ready setting to live as soon as we bring them home. Reading everything about setting up an aquarium fish tank helps a lot in making the right purchase.

Aquarium fish tanks come in diverse shapes, sizes and styles. The size of the aquarium fish tank you decide should fit in your room. A fish tank for beginners is generally 10 or 20 gallon. The tank should not be positioned in direct sunlight since this can badly affect the temperature of the tank. All aquariums should have a cover to avoid evaporation of water and to keep the leaping fish in the tank. Aquarium fish tanks may be made of glass or acrylic. One should look it over carefully for scratches or cracks before purchasing.

A tank requires a filter to keep the water clean, a heater is essential if you are keen to keep tropical fish. One also has to decide on the decorations like the kind of gravel, the type of plants (live or artificial) and other decorations such as natural rock, driftwood etc. Decorations improve the look of your aquarium. When setting up the tank, it is vital to read all the directions that come with the filter, size, the heater, temperature, decorations and so on.

A fresh water tank is easier to handle for beginners than tropical fish aquariums. It is important to use clean tap water to fill your aquarium.  The water should stand for a number of days so that the chemicals in it like chlorine and ammonia, harmful to the fish get time to evaporate. Different types of filters are offered to help keep the water in the aquarium fresh from the waste excreted by the fish. They are ‘under gravel’ filters, outside filters and box filters. The additional filter material a filter has the superior filter it will be.  Gravel filters are kept at the bottom of the tank and are covered with gravel so cannot be seen. They filter the water all the way through the gravel. They work better but are difficult to clean as one needs to break the entire tank to clean them. Smaller sized Box filters are placed inside the aquarium in one corner or are attached to the wall. Although they need repeated cleaning, they are much easier to clean.

Gravel meant for decorative purposes are available in different sizes and colours.  You should wash the gravel thoroughly with water before laying it inside the tank. As an alternative of gravel, dolomite, sand, crushed coral etc can also be used. Dark coloured gravel brings out the colours in tropical fish. Besides being decorative, gravel also help to hold the plants.

Filters, gravels, artificial plants and other decorative objects can be easily bought at all salt water fish stores. At times one can get hold of discount fish tanks in these stores. One artefact offered by these stores is complete fish tanks. These have everything necessary for starting your new hobby.
