Setup for 30 gallon tank including kuhlis and/or yoyo loaches?

Question by : Setup for 30 gallon tank including kuhlis and/or yoyo loaches?
I am about to start a freshwater tropical aquarium. I will have a 30 gallon tank. I LOVE loaches, yoyos and kuhlies in particular. What other fish (and how many) could live with either (or both, if they’re compatible) in a 30 gallon tank?

Answer by Barry
Clown loaches!

Guppies, Gouramis, Platys, Neon Tetras are all great choices, too.

What is a good set-up for a community tropical fish tank?

Question by elcamo: What is a good set-up for a community tropical fish tank?
I am an experienced fish keeper, but was wondering what others keep in their tanks. I’m looking to find fish for my new tank, and any advice on species choice is wonderful.

I have a 40 gallon freshwater tank with the following:

Two angels (full grown veil tails)
some gold tetras (4-5)
4-5 white cloud minnows
a gold ram
a BIG pleco (he’s survived three tanks so far and he’s about 7-8″ long!)
a cat shark
3 threadfin rainbows (beautiful fish if you can find them, full grown they’re just a little bigger than a guppy and the males have very pretty dorsal fins they flare up when they are excited, and their other fins have long black tips)

I lose count of the tetras and white clouds because they never sit still long enough for me to count them!

I also have live plants. I can’t stand fake plants. And natural tan peagravel as a substrate. I haven’t lost any fish in quite awhile and they all get along very well.

Aquarium Setup – Siamese fighting fish (male betta)

Here is my aquarium setup. It consists of one male blue Siamese fighting fish named Andrew, 8 Neon Tetras and one Albino Corydoras Catfish named Rolando. The catfish mainly dwells on the bottom of the aquarium and eats leftover food and possibly poop from the other fishes. It does its part to help keep the aquarium clean! My fighting fish gets along very well with the Neon Tetras but does occassionally show some agression towards the Albino Catfish. It only does it when the catfish gets in its way. It will fare up its gills and fins and the catfish swims away. Besides that, they all get along just fine.

I need a good setup for my aquarium (120L)?

Question by Amrit Bains: I need a good setup for my aquarium (120L)?
I currently have a 120 liter aquarium without fish. I need some nice setups that do not include any algae eaters or snails ( freak me out and my parents ). I’ve had some bad luck in the past so I would prefer keeping easier fish. They can be either freshwater ( tropical ) or cold water. At the moment there is gravel in the tank that is a mixture of bright and less bright blue.

I would go with getting a planted tank with lots of plants.
Then go with fish like angelfish, any kind of tetras, theres lots of type of community fish.
These fish are very easy to take care of

10g aquarium setup (revised) is this alright?

Question by Tessa Starr: 10g aquarium setup (revised) is this alright?
Here is my supplies list (keeping in mind i already have the tank and tropical fish flakes):
hood+light
gravel
small net
background*
plants (2 live alternanthera reineckii, 2 fake)
statues/decor
heater
filter
air pump
water conditioner
stress coat
water testing kit
algae chips
live rocks*
live/frozen foods*
*=only getting these items if i have enough money

and here are the fish i’m getting:
3 male guppies
1 male dwarf gourami
3-6 neon tetras
1 african dwarf frog
1 panda cory

So does this sound good? I know it sounds crowded, but all of these fish are really small and the frog&cory will spend the majority of their time on the bottom while the others will be around the top/mid section. In the future I plan to upgrade to a 15-20g aquarium. If you can think of anything else I should get, please tell me.
I know I don’t need live rocks, I’m not even positive that I’m going to get them. If the pet store sells them fully cured, I just think it would be nice to have a few.
so no cory.
i know that the frog may be out competed for food. im buying algae chips that drop to the bottom just for it to eat. if that doesnt work, ill feed it by hand.

Is this setup, for a 25,500 gallon saltwater aquarium a good setup?

Question by Vern: Is this setup, for a 25,500 gallon saltwater aquarium a good setup?
I am building a commercial sized saltwater aquarium, i am planning on using a very minimal amount of live rock, most of the aquarium will be fish, with small amounts of live rock scattered throughout. I have searched the internet for various skimmers, and other forms of filtration, and I want to know if this setup that I have thrown together would work realistically. Any feedback is greatly appreciated…

I want to use this type of filtration system, biological and mechanical. It says it is to be used for a Koy pond…is this a problem?

http://www.thepondsolution.com/shop/item.aspx?itemid=230

I will be using this style protein skimmer

http://www.myreefcreations.com/product_info.php?products_id=177

It says that it is rated for 8500 gallons each, I will be using three of them.

water pumps and tubing is not an issue that i’m concerned with, however I was wondering how I would heat such a large aquarium. Then I decided that a good idea would be to buy a pool heat pump. I know that they do not work in temperatures of 45degrees or less, which is why i am planning on putting it inside of my house. Would this type of pool heat pump (if kept at 75-80 degrees) harm saltwater tropical fish? I know that it can handle the actual task of warming the water, for about 200$ yearly, I just need to know if it will harm the fish, or have any type of adverse affect on the quality of the water.

http://www.poolheatpumps.com/Kopec.htm

I know the fact that this will cost a ridiculous amount of money, I am not interested in that aspect. Also, I am wondering if adding lots of live rock would be a good idea, to help filter the aquarium.

Dude you might as well buy the ocean :P

But haha… that’d be incredible to have a tank that big. I don’t know much about it, but all I can say is good luck because that’d be a huge accomplishment to have a tank running that is that huge.

what would be the perfect tropical fish for a 200 – 300 gallon tank setup?

Question by Doc_Sidâ„¢: what would be the perfect tropical fish for a 200 – 300 gallon tank setup?
goin to buy a tank soon.
dimensions- length 5-7 feet, width 2 feet, height 2-3 feet.

theres a 30 foot wall with four huge 10 foot windows with glazed glass to the left of the area for the aquarium and a sunroof. so LOTS of natural light during the day.
which fish would look good in there without artificial lighting?

-planted or non planted ?
-a few big fish or lots of small to medium fish?
suggest the perfect setup ?
i live in India btw.

i would do the tank with lots of medium sized-semi aggressive freshwater fish

for example, i would use some tiger barbs(all of the three different types, normal, albino and green)
rosy barbs
a couple of rainbow sharks(they get kinda big, but still fit together with barbs)
then, i had this fish called a clown knifefish, it gets big and is a extremely beautiful fish that should do well in there too
some giant danios should also do well in there.
lots of different types of bottom fish, from cory cat to clown loaches
of course i would add some big and beautiful plecos to the tank
and with a tank that big, you could also put some blue crawfish onto the bottom of your tank, they would probably not bother the other fish since they have so much space.
heres a link that will show you some more fish you could put in there:

http://www.elmersaquarium.com/c106community5barbs.htm

i would put some plants in there, don’t care if their unreal or not
if you can, you should also put some driftwood in there(don’t know if you can afford it, can get pretty expensive sometimes)
i would definitely not let the tank be unplanted.

Aquarium Sample Setup for Beginners (5 Gallon Fish Tank)

My 5 Gallon Fish Tank (Guppy,Guppy Babies,Zebra,Tetra Neon and Yellow Snail). Good for Beginners who want to start an aquarium, What you need : Tank – 3 Gallon to 10 gallon’s for beginners. Filter – Internal filters / Bottom filters are good at this stage. Heater – Depends on the place. If your leaving in a cool place then you might need to buy it. But if your in a room temp place then no need. Just make sure to monitor the temp of the tank. Thermometer – to monitor the temp of your tank. Good for temp between 22′C to 32′C max. Gravel – White or Red are good. Mixing it will bring good sight in your tank. Wood – (optional) little wood will be just fine. Aquatic plants – I recommend to atleast have 1 or 2 plant inside. Benifits of giving oxygen. Fish – for beginners its better to choose small fish, like Zebra,Guppy and Tetra fish as they can adjust easily on your tank temperature and dosent need much oxgyen (no need to add pump). You can add these 3 type of fish all of them in tank. Make sure to keep them pair to one another. Fish Food – Dont use other brands that are cheaper. Prefer TETRA MIN for better and healthier fish. If you do have questions please leave your comments.
