what is the best way to light a 3 gallon plastic tank?

Question by Dean: what is the best way to light a 3 gallon plastic tank?
I have a 3 gallon plastic tank and I fancied a small shoal of neon tetras but I’ve read a few care sheets and they strongly recommend lots of plants. Will some plants survive of natural daylight because my tank gets a lot of sun? And by the way don’t say a 3 gallon aquarium is to small for neon tetras because my local tropical fish tank said 3 gallons is fine for a 5 neon tetras. Anyway any help (except for the size of the tank) will be useful :)

Hi I have a 13 litre tank which is less than 3 gallons I think. I have one goldfish And I’m looking at getting some tetras too
I don’t think natural light will be enough but my starter kit didn’t include a light so I have an uplighter which is right behind the tank and I just turn on the small reading light and that’s really good
